Free PCBA File Check

What Files Are Included in a Complete PCB Assembly File Package?

Before PCB assembly, we conduct a thorough review of all customer-provided files to ensure first-time production success. A complete set of files typically includes PCB Gerber files, BOM (Bill of Materials), component pick-and-place coordinate files, notes, specifications, and testing procedures. For an in-depth look at our PCB file check process, please refer to our dedicated page on the Free PCB File Check. Below are the essential elements of a complete PCBA file package:

    BOM List

The BOM (Bill of Materials) serves as a critical document in PCBA processing, detailing the electronic components required. It includes the brand, model, description, and bit number for each part, ensuring smooth production. Providing the BOM in Excel format is preferred, as it allows for easy conversion and efficient engineering operations.

    Coordinate File

Coordinate files are used by PCBA processing equipment to accurately place components. These files, often in .txt format, are vital for automating the assembly process and are typically referred to as Pick & Place files.

    Customer-Provided Samples (Optional)

Samples, if provided, offer a visual reference for component placement, soldering, and other processes. In the absence of samples, we may produce a few units for testing before mass production, especially for large orders.

    Process Guidance Documents

Process guidance documents outline any special production requirements. These can include specific instructions on soldering, coating, or other unique aspects of PCBA processing. In some cases, notes within the BOM can serve as process guides.

    Test Documentation

Test documentation details the various tests to be conducted on the completed PCBA. These documents help ensure that all technical parameters are met during testing.

Assistance in PCB Component Sourcing Based on BOM

After verifying the BOM, we move into the material procurement phase, focusing on active components like ICs and MCUs. Here are some of the key issues we address:

Component Shortages & Long Lead Times

If newer components are unavailable, we may suggest using parts up to five years old if they are in original, unopened packaging and have passed sample tests.

    Obsolete Components

We recommend replacing outdated components with modern alternatives that offer better performance and lower power consumption.

    Price Increases

When dealing with rising costs, especially for passive components, we provide alternative brands or domestic equivalents to keep procurement costs down while maintaining quality.
